Love

The worst kind of love is one-sided. It's when you can't live without the other person, and they mean the world to you. It's where your heart stops when you see them, and you fall in love all over again. One-sided love is beautiful. It's tragic. It's magical.

Magic isn't necessarily a good thing. See, there's good and bad magic in the world, and love is the double-edged sword that keeps you from knowing which side it belongs to.

In high school and middle school, most kids think love is fake. You don't really fall in love when you're a kid, because you don't know what love is. But, that's not always true. Love can be as simple as a crush. We learn about love the second we're born. Our mothers hold us, teaching us the most important emotion we will ever have in our lives. As we grow, we learn that we can love people for who they are. We learn that love is beautiful. But we also learn that love hurts. It's not called a crush for no reason.

As a child, we do experience love outside of our families. We experience one-sided love. We love someone for who they are, for the way they look. We love people for little, tiny details that only we notice. The shine in one's eyes. The freckles that settle in various places throughout their face. The way their hair looks when they tilt their head a certain way. We love people for different reasons, all of which make us happy. Then we experience the downfall of love. We see that they don't love us back and they probably never will. We feel the pain that strikes our hearts when the ones we love are taken from us. We see both sides of love and we feel every bit of the cycle take from us. We love, we hurt, we move on. It wears our hearts down to nothing. Every time we move on, we lose a piece of our love until, eventually, we have nothing left. We love until we cannot love anymore.

It's when someone loves us back, that we see that it is possible to love again. Our loveless hearts fill again. We see that it is possible to fix what has been broken.  The cycle begins again, but we still love. We still strive for a feeling that's unlike anything. No words can describe love the way we feel it.

The worst kind of love is one-sided. But, even when there is no one to love us back, we still love.
