Unfinished but Okayish

 Time skip: About 3 Months

I walked in the hall, on my way to English. Last week we'd had our school dance and it was amazing. I danced with my girlfriend, I had fun with my friends, and it couldn't have been better. Well, except for the part of me that wanted to sit with Alanna instead of dance. But I ignored that. Keighlee was standing at her locker, banging her head against the door. "Hey babe, what's wrong?" I asked. She turned around and stared at me, a confused look in her eyes. "What... did you just... call me?" She asked hesitantly. "Um, babe? Is there something wrong with that? Because if there is I can stop calling you that. I mean, I know we're dating and all, but if you don't like that then I can-" "Shut up. It's fine," she smiled and walked off. I sighed in sadness. But part of me was relieved that she was gone. Alanna walked by. She stared at me and when I looked at her my heart fluttered. What the hell? What’s wrong with me? She looked away and walked faster. Interesting, I thought.

Timeskip

At the end of the day, I realized that I hadn’t talked to Keighlee all day. Alanna, on the other hand, was a COMPLETELY different story. In math, we’d talked about James. In history, we’d talked about… I don’t actually remember, but it was also unimportant. In both of our electives, we laughed about the dance. But Keighlee? Nothing. We had science together but she was sleeping… or dying………. But either way, our only encounter, or conversation for that matter, was in the hall when all she said was, “what did you just call me?” and “shut up. it’s fine.” Why am I dating her if we don’t even talk? The dance is the only time we… yeah, I thought. “Ok guys, get out of here. Schools over,” Mrs. Teacher said. I grabbed my stuff. As I jumped out of my seat, I fell face first onto the floor. A roar of laughter filled the room. I could tell how red my face was by how hot it felt. A hand grabbed my arm snapping me out of the moment. “Get up, idiot. We don’t have all day to do this, and I don’t want anyone knowing I’m helping you,” the person connected to the hand said. Donovan. He helped me up and stormed off. “Thanks?” I mumbled.

I got outside and I was looking for Alanna. Every day we’d share one of those awkward side-hugs. I didn’t see her so I assumed that she’d left already. “Aden! Over here,” I heard her yell. I turned around and smiled. I ran towards her telling her I had to go. She hugged me. Like, a legit hug, and refused to let go. I laughed and poked her. She let go laughing. I laughed and turned before she could poke me back. But when I did, I regretted turning. Keighlee was staring at me with a mischievous smile. I knew what she was thinking. Alanna and I had officially been shipped. “Shit! I wish you hadn’t seen that” I mumbled. Her smile grew larger. “You just… flirted… with my friend. How could I NOT see that! That’s freaking GOLD! Hold on, I have to tell Sid,” she laughed. I blushed madly. I turned to see if Alanna was watching but she was gone. Thank god, I thought. I turned back to Keighlee. She was silently laughing when, out of nowhere, her face fell. She scowled at the ground. I took a step toward her, and she took one back. She looked up at me, still scowling. “I have to go.” She turned, walking off with a purpose. “What?” I didn’t know what to do. I stood there, dumbfounded until my little brother called for me.
